This week I read a nice article by Siraj Wahid on the value of leaving comments on other people’s blogs. He raises a lot of important points. Here are a few of my own:
- No one has time for blogging and writing – until you start to work it into your life, little by little. Leaving a comment gets you started.
- As I stated in a recent article I wrote for MarketingProfs, people consume information these days “hors d’oeuvre” style. In bits and pieces. Writing comments trains you to be concise, because that’s what the market wants.
- Commenting is like tweeting. And tweeting is like writing haiku: short and sweet, yet carefully crafted. Over time, the bits and pieces add up in marketing value.
- Comment here and there, and you’ll find the juices will start to flow for a longer piece. A comment here and a comment there, and before you know it, you have an article.
- Everyone needs friends. Even the online, virtual ones. Leave positive and well thought-out comments, and you’ll make more of them.

Couldn’t have been said better…like your illustration here, this whole business can seem overwhelming…I started small, with comments, and then a “practice” blog before I got to my blog at https://www.ZeldasSong.com (undergoing an upgrade as we speak). It did just work into my life, and got easier. Never did I think that would happen!
